ENLISTMENT PAPERS

Names in Picture: William Root on back of cart (with white whiskers), Billy Ingram, man with pipe on left. Women (with 3 in group by front wheel) Ida Campbell, Aunt Lana and Lula Campbell (Lula and Ida are Lana’s daughters).  Children in front:  Ruth and Bob Ingram, (these 2 children were raised by Aunt Lana and Grandpa Root).  Others unknown by my grandmother or my mother.  Maybe someone knows who others are, it would be great to find out.

Picture, taken shortly after the 3rd marriage of William Root to Mary Ann (Lana), Ingram–Campbell on July 18, 1907.  The location of the picture is at the home of Mary (Lana)  Campbell (the bride).  The family called her Aunt Lana, since she was the sister of William’s 2nd wife Ann Elizabeth Ingram. The home is now owned by Robert and Patricia Haigh in Mulliken, Eaton County, Michigan. Robert (Bob) Haigh is my first cousin, son of Lester and Susie Lana Root, sister to my mother Mabel.

Mabel Fern Root-Austin (in her hand writing on back of picture), is the daughter of George W. Root and Florence Elma Ervay. My mother, also noted on the back of the picture that the names were given to her, by my Grandmother Florence Elma Ervay-Root, wife of George W. Root (son of William).
