Catherine N. Boyer- Catherine Newman was born at Manheim, Herkimer Co., NY on 22 Aug 1817.  On 14 Jan 1841 she was married to Henry Boyer. They came to Chester, MI in 1847 later moving to Roxand Twp.  They lived with Adam Boyer until they built a log house on Eva Campbell's farm.  She was the mother of eight children, Mary H. who married Fred Boyer; Israel  Boyer of Vermontville, Mrs. Wm. H. Gould of Roxand; Mrs. D. C. Litchfield of Mulliken; Scott W. Boyer of Roxand; 2 children who died in infancy and Jorum H. who died in a Virginia Field Hospital from wounds received in the Civil War. During recent years Mrs. Boyer had made her home with her youngest son, Scott Boyer. In early life she united with the Lutheran Church and lived an exemplary life. She was stricken with paralysis on the 1st of Nov. and passed away 3rd. Nov. [1910]. The funeral was held 5th of Nov. at the Loucks school house with Rev. Huff officiating. Interment was in Moyer Cemetery. Besides her children, 23 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
